It finally happened to me.
I did the seafoam through the PCV valve this weekend and really enjoyed the fume show. Let it set for 5 min. and drove effectually the cake until the fume show ended. Changed the oil and put on a Wix.
All was going well and my 3 yr old daughter was having fun helping.
And then I decided check the air filter and pop the air hose/tubing just split open and smiled at me.
And so what is the fix for this?
I searched simply didn't actually come up up with much.
Just put sealant on information technology and hope for the all-time?
I know the hose is large $$$ and then I am interested in what others take washed to address this.
Thank you
Beak

Don't employ silicone on that hose, I did that on my camry and it sucked the silicone into the throttle body and jammed it open.....not good.

Duct tape seems to work well for people though......

I used a rubber type cement chosen Pliobond fabricated past Goodyear. I let that fix upwardly overnight. Then I took some stainless bailing wire that I had laying around and went around the tube a couple of times before crossing over to the other side of the split and went around a couple of times and crossed once more. I repeated this step near 8 times crossing over as shut to equal sections every bit I could. I followed this footstep with a liberal amount of duct record and finished it off with a couple of wraps of some metalized high estrus tape that I had boot around from the wire loom repair. I noticed an firsthand comeback in the idle - information technology dropped near 250 rpm. My intention was to call Dan the next 24-hour interval and order a replacement. That was last jump. I capeesh a trail fix, ingenuity, and frugality as much as anyone but I cannot understand a semi-permanent "duct tape & muffler tape" fix to this critical component to your engine.

The hose on there has worked well for 170,000 miles. Supercede information technology with a new OEM hose from C-Dan and forget well-nigh it for another 170,000 miles.

Under $100. If you recollect duct record will be a permanent prepare, sell your Cruiser. It does piece of work as a trail repair, or temp fix if you have to drive it to the dealer or wait for the UPS package from CDan. You're request for trouble leaving it that way though. Leaks after the air filter can price you your engine. Fixing 1 crack in a deteriorated rubber hose is inviting trouble, no matter how good the fix.

I was really hoping someone had a good solution such as using some inexpensive metal tubing but I quess the 10 year and all that heat is all one can expect from a rubber air intake hose. If its breakable there then its brittle everywhere. Calling Dan, again
